My story

I'm originally from Dublin, Ireland but have been living in NJ, USA for the last 32 years.

I've been a Liverpool fan since 1974 and have seen them play too many times to count.

On July 19th, 2019 I went to see Liverpool play Borussia Dortmund in a preseason friendly in Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN.

A photographer took the picture above and TV commentator and ex Liverpool player, Jason McAteer made a few 'suit' comments. The next morning my phone blew up as the picture and some TV footage from the game were shown on many national and international news outlets.

Two days later I was in Boston for the 2nd of Liverpool's preseason games and a lot of people recognized me. During their final preseason game in New York the camera again zoomed in on me, the crowd cheered and Jason McAteer again made a funny comment.

Since the start of the 2019 season, I have been travelling to Official Liverpool Supporters Clubs (OLSCs) and various other locations wearing the suit, doing some thrill seeking activities and watching Liverpool games with the best fans in the world.

The Coronavirus pandemic halted my travels but when the season restarted I was able to continue my travels, albeit in a limited capacity. I finished by visiting some local OLSCs, but finish it I did. I had intended to be in England for 3 of the final 9 games plus the parade but it was not meant to be.

The 2020 season was one to forget but the amazing run in gave us something to cheer about that better days lay ahead.

Since the suit became well known my journey has been amazing but I always wanted to do something more with the attention that has been bestowed upon the suit. I decided to run the Liverpool Marathon (in the suit) to raise funds for Seán Cox.

What happened to Seán was a tragedy and I wanted to support that cause. Not just because he is Irish but because it could have happened to anyone of us.

It was postponed in 2020 and then again in May of 2021 but on October 24th.2021 I lined up for 26.2 miles, in the suit and ran the Liverpool Marathon for Seán Cox.

On November 26th, 2021 I visited Seán in his home in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. We hung out for a while, I showed him some videos and pictures of my adventures and presented the check for his rehabilitation.

Seán Cox is a 54-year old husband and father of three from Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Ireland.  A lifelong Liverpool FC fan, on April 24th 2018 Seán travelled with his brother Martin to the Champions League semi-final between Liverpool and AS Roma at Anfield.  Just before kick-off, on his way to the stadium, Seán was the victim of a vicious and unprovoked attack which left him with life-changing injuries.  He spent some months in a coma in Liverpool, before transferring back to hospitals in Ireland.
